The following settings will minimize CPU and RAM usage in MikroTik. Prevent CPU peaking 100% usage on MikroTik hAP lite due to DNS flood/overload Use google DNS instead of router to resolve DNS Also, CPU usage peaks 100% if it looks through all the interfaces during winbox startup Only check WAN to avoid Common problem on MikroTik hAP lite after configuring is 100% CPU load, especially during opening winbox on PC or mobile. Also tends to happen after mikrotik have not been rebooted after several days. Fixed in 3 steps! Limit internet detect to WAN (or just disable all). Disabling peer DNS and NTP on DHCP Client. Disallow DNS remote requests and use google DNS servers. Then reboot mikrotik router, other access points, and switches connected :) Crashes or lag may also be caused by: High speed file transfers between devices connected to router/wlan (layer2) - Use switch and access point for file transfers. DON'T buy a new CPU! Try THIS instead: Alright, while a bad cpu (in my case an i3 6100) and small amount of ram (8gb) can be annoying, it's still perfectly possible to produce. You've seen the hacks in this video, so I'm writing this just to elaborate a little further. Let's start with this: 🤍 Under audio settings, everything you need to know is explained. The distortion/lag effect you hear while your cpu is struggling are called underruns. Basically, when a core of your cpu reaches max usage, it doesn't have the time to process the audio, leaving small jitters and distortions in your music. That's why buffer length is so important, as it lets the cpu catch up by creating an artificial delay. It does make getting timing down perfectly in the playlist frustrating, but it's still worth it. If you follow the hacks in the video, you will get far, but the most important is to listen to only one element at a time, that way the cpu has to process less. If you need to check the whole mix? RECORD IN THE EDISON. That way you will hear the song with no underruns. You could also render/freeze all the elements of your song, but it's super bothersome, you can't edit midi, fx, or the vst generators, and you have to send the rendered stuff to new mixer channels. There are ways to get around the last one, but it's bothersom and takes a lot of time. If you're still struggling (like me), you might have to bite the bullet and get a new cpu. This is unfortunately very expensive, as it does often mean changing the motherboard too (and likely other parts too). For me, I'm practically going to have to build a new system and salvage the gpu (which is failing me too now I'm video editing :( ). To make this hurt less, we need to make sure what we get will be plenty enough. Following this guide: 🤍 is a great start. I personally suggest any new generation AMD or Intel processor, 16gb of 3200mhz ram, and preferably a nice ssd. Wish you all good luck.
