The landing flare, also referred to as the round out, is a maneuver or stage during the landing of an aircraft. The flare follows the final approach phase and precedes the touchdown and roll-out phases of landing. In the flare, the nose of the plane is raised, slowing the descent rate and therefore, creating a softer touchdown, and the proper attitude is set for touchdown. In the case of conventional landing gear-equipped aircraft, the attitude is set to touchdown on the main (front) landing gear first. In the case of tricycle gear-equipped aircraft, the attitude is set to touchdown on the main (rear) landing gear. In the case of monowheel gear-equipped gliders, the flare consists only of leveling the aircraft. In parachuting, the flare is the part of the parachute landing fall preceding ground contact and is executed about 15 feet (5 m) above ground. Featured Aircraft: A330s, A350s, A380s, B747s, B777s & B787s! Sydney Airport opens up at 6am when the curfew is lifted and is barraged with many flights from all around the world. Whilst the pandemic and closed borders have hindered the amount of heavy aircraft arrivals into Sydney, there's still plenty of flights to film! This video was filmed in January of this year, during the summer peak. Despite the season, the weather was far from typical. Wit rain, clouds and strong winds, the heat haze was kept to a minimum which was great for us as we filmed around the airport. We caught some of the new airlines at Sydney like T'Way and also a training flight by the Qantas A380, which allowed us to get a rotation shot from sheps mound, which is otherwise impossible. With 3 runways, Sydney airport has no shortage of incredible angles and views of these beautiful aircraft landing and departing, so without further ado, enjoy the best of Sydney Airport! Within the past 8 years I filmed a few hard landings of different airplane types. In todays TOP 10 video I sumed up the heaviest landings I have ever filmed. Two of these landings were performed by Boeing 747` s at Maastricht airport. Don` t know what` s going on with the runway at Maastricht but I have seen a few hard landings at the small airport in the Netherlands. Maybe it` s the small humb near the touchdown area which makes the flare a little unpredictable. Some of these hard landings were also caused by the lack of flare in general. Check out the Airbus A321 of British which looked like the runway was just in its way during its flight. There was no flare at all. It was all around the winter time, as you can see we could record some very nice footage also in the snow. The route on that day was Wunstorf Air Base - Frankfurt - Rzeszow - Frankfurt - Rzeszow. The A400M belongs to the 62. Air Transport Wing, which operates the A400M out of Wunstorf Air Base, an Air Base near the city of Hannover. - 09-9209: US Air Force C-17 (Departure) A rare guest in Frankfurt was the McChord United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III 09-9209, which is assigned to the 62nd Airlift Wing at Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington. The aircraft flew a mission on behalf of the German Public Prosecutor's Office. - 15+10: German Air Force A321-251NX (Arrival) The German Air Force / German Ministry of Defense Airbus A321-251NX was delivered to the Air Force in June 2022. For the last 10 months, this aircraft flew to Rzeszow very often in order for military personal transport and for the German Government to visit Poland. - T-055: NATO A330-243MRTT (Arrival) This aircraft visited us after a mission in Lisbon, Portugal. The day before the arrival in Frankfurt, the A330 flew from the German Air Base in Cologne to Lisbon. After more than three hours on the ground in Lisbon, the aircraft took off for Frankfurt. After a quick stop in Frankfurt, the aircraft returned to its position in Cologne. The aircraft is capable of refueling three aircraft mid-air and at the same time. The A330 is used for Air to Air refueling but also for cargo and passenger transport, this was also the reason why the aircraft did a short stop at Frankfurt Airport. 2022 all done! What a year for this channel! I spent a good portion of the year travelling the globe, covering numerous countries and multiple continents, plane spotting at an amazing diversity of airports. After a rough 2020 and 2021, aviation is finally back on track to its old self! With the loss of some beauties along the way, with many airlines retiring their amazing aircraft, its bitter-sweet, as they introduce other aircraft, and slowly bring some of their other aircraft back into action, such as the A380! I travelled so much this year, and loved every minute of it! Covering North America at airports such as JFK, Los Angeles, Miami and Vancouver! Dear friends, this video was also recorded during the Munich Security Conference. It's an impressive mix of government, VIP and civil planes. Today a severe storm crossed germany and caused lots of trouble for the pilots which had to land an airplane in western germany. Storm "Friederike" was the strongest storm in germany since 11 years. Pilots had to deal with wind speeds up to 75knts. As a result I was able to film lots of "go arounds". Some pilots had to do three approaches until they finaly managed to land at Düsseldorf. Other pilots just tried it once and diverted to other airpots, like the Delta Boeing 767-400 for example. Especialy the second landing, a Dash 8 of Eurowings did an incredible approach while fighting with extreme wind gusts at Düsseldorf Airport.
